Publisher, Raf Shakirov, and Nikolay Vardul, Chief Editor of the "Financial Gazette", have initiated an independent discussion group, called the "Economic Club" which gathers in Moscow. The founders envisage that the club will be a stage for discussing the economic development of Russia, where key decisions can be made which can drive the economic development of the country forward.

Making up the economic club are well known Russian academics and experts, in particular the heads of the Institute of Economics at the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Globalization Problems, the Gaidar Economic and Political Institute, the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Statistics Service, the Association of Russian Banks, as well as leading journalists from the Russian media.

The first session of the club examined the theme, "What gives new impetus to the Russian economy. Investment and Infrastructure Projects". Alexander Razuvaev, Head of Alpari's Analytical Department, made a presentation which included an overview of the history of the Russian economy from 2000 to the current time. The presentation was extremely well received by the audience, and at the end of the event Alexander was interviewed by a host of Russian media outlets.
